Ashley Lovett, RN

For Ashley Lovett, RN, the industry of medical aesthetics is far from being about a complete change in someone’s appearance. It’s much more about simply restoring the youthful look so many of us long to have again. At least that’s the approach she takes with each client at Coastal Skin Solutions.

Born and raised in Augusta, GA, Ashley spent much of her teen years being active in tennis and serving on her high school’s rowing team. She later completed her undergraduate degree in Health Promotion and Behavior at the University of Georgia, followed by a Bachelor of Science in nursing back home in Augusta. Following her education, she worked as a labor and delivery nurse, which she did for 17 years.

Ashley moved to Charleston in 2007 and began working at the Koniver Wellness Center alongside owner Craig Koniver, M.D., husband and business partner of Coastal Skin Solutions’ owner Keli Koniver. She said seeing the positive changes in patients on both sides of the practice (both internal and external) somehow fueled her natural progression to the aesthetics side of the business, though she deeply appreciates all aspects of patient care.

It’s about making the patients feel good on the inside and outside,” Ashley said. “I just tend to be more of a nurturing person. I like to take care of the whole person. I see it more of taking care of someone rather than just selling them a service or product. I think taking care of clients and making them feel good about themselves led me to aesthetics.”

Although she performs most of the aesthetic treatments offered at Coastal Skin Solutions, if Ashley had to pinpoint her favorite treatment, it would be neurotoxin injections.

“I love the first-time Botox patient who is completely amazed that their wrinkles are gone,” she said proudly. “The smile when people look in the mirror after they’ve had a treatment is what makes it all worth it. It’s amazing to see that.”

Ashley emphasizes the importance of educating people first. If a client advocates for a particular treatment simply due to hype or another reason, it could potentially lead them down a path of less-than-optimal results.

“That’s why I often tell patients that I want to restore what they had,” Ashley says. “I don’t like to change things. I want it to look natural. Our job is to make sure we’re doing the best for the client.”

When Ashley isn’t making a difference in her clients’ lives, you can often find her spending time with her two children, who are heavily involved in sports.
